Alcoy's urban landscape shows a particular architecture ranging from Art Nouveau -style, residential and industrial buildings to state-of-the-art bridges and other modern buildings. In the last decade, some of the city's quaint corners have been restored and today, the creation of new green areas is being promoted. The city gives its best perspective from within: steep roads, bridges over the ravines that outline the horizon surrounded by mountains which, from time to time, leave a gap open to let in the herbal scents of the Mariola mountain range...such as the famous ravine called the Barranc del Cint.

The city's natural landscape is at its best at the Natural Park of the Font Roja, the famous Carrascal (Holm Oak Wood), a wildlife treasure, a privileged area where you can enjoy the thick vegetation of the Mediterranean mixed forest.

Alcoy and its surroundings offer a great many possibilities to carry out several mountain sports and activities such as rambling, climbing, potholing, spelunking, etc. Furthermore, the city has several youth hostels as well as some camping areas available. .
